Day 1 of our Bordeaux trip...

We planned our 2 day trip to Bordeaux for hubby's birthday, it was absolutely pouring it down, and we thought this is going to be a fun packed wet few days.

On arrival in Bordeaux we checked into our hotel, left our luggage and headed off into the centre. We wanted to see a few sights so had to venture out into the rain.
Cathédrale Saint-André de Bordeaux was our first stop. An amazing Cathedral, beautiful architecture, stunning stained windows, and a very impressive Alter, the cathedral had a very welcoming ambience about the place. Bordeaux Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral, seat of the Archbishop of Bordeaux-Bazas,located in Bordeaux. The cathedral was consecrated on 1st May by Pope Urban 11 in 1096. Of the original Romanesque edifice, only a wall in the nave remains.
A Church may simply receive a blessing but a Cathedral must be consecrated, In reality, many ancient Cathedrals have only been consecrated recently-as their construction took place over several centuries they were never considered finished.

After our trip around the Cathedral we stopped for a coffee in this lovely Cafe.

Spotted these 2 men chatting away over a glass of wine in the Cafe, lovely photo, been playing with my camera to give the photo a different dimension.

After our coffee we spent some time in the Musée des Beaux Arts. The Museum was founded in 1801. Napoleon bequeathed it a part of the Royal Collection.

Bordeaux is known for its form of transport the Tram, very popular with everyone and a quick and economic way to get around the city.

Another beautiful piece of architecture is the Notre Dame Church, an 11th century church. (Eglise Notre Dame la Grande)
