Day 1 of our Bordeaux trip...

We planned our 2 day trip to Bordeaux for hubby's birthday, it was absolutely pouring it down, and we thought this is going to be a fun packed wet few days.

On arrival in Bordeaux we checked into our hotel, left our luggage and headed off into the centre. We wanted to see a few sights so had to venture out into the rain.
Cathédrale Saint-André de Bordeaux was our first stop. An amazing Cathedral, beautiful architecture, stunning stained windows, and a very impressive Alter, the cathedral had a very welcoming ambience about the place. Bordeaux Cathedral is a Roman Catholic cathedral, seat of the Archbishop of Bordeaux-Bazas,located in Bordeaux. The cathedral was consecrated on 1st May by Pope Urban 11 in 1096. Of the original Romanesque edifice, only a wall in the nave remains.
A Church may simply receive a blessing but a Cathedral must be consecrated, In reality, many ancient Cathedrals have only been consecrated recently-as their construction took place over several centuries they were never considered finished.

After our trip around the Cathedral we stopped for a coffee in this lovely Cafe.

Spotted these 2 men chatting away over a glass of wine in the Cafe, lovely photo, been playing with my camera to give the photo a different dimension.

After our coffee we spent some time in the Musée des Beaux Arts. The Museum was founded in 1801. Napoleon bequeathed it a part of the Royal Collection.

Bordeaux is known for its form of transport the Tram, very popular with everyone and a quick and economic way to get around the city.

Another beautiful piece of architecture is the Notre Dame Church, an 11th century church. (Eglise Notre Dame la Grande)

My favourite wildlife...Deer..

Had to show you these beauties, saw them as we were coming back from shopping. There is something about Deer, that are elegant, beautiful and move with such finesse ...

Spring is here....

Had a beautiful walk this morning, weather very Spring like , blue sky, glorious sunshine and it was quite mild for the time of year. Started to notice buds on the trees, little shoots appearing out of the ground. Dappled sunshine as we walk through the woods. We saw a fox but unfortunately my camera wasn't quick enough, but Maisie (the dog) oh yes she spotted it...off she was doing her hunting howl, chasing it, but the fox was too fast for her (fortunately). Half an hour later she caught us up, tongue about touching the ground, that will teach her.

Anyway, the birds were singing away in the trees, we saw a couple of Busards, and Buzzards, love watching them skimming the ground catching their prey.

Lovely to feel and smell that Spring has sprung....now for the wildlife to come alive..large and small.

Sun, rain, sleet, snow and hail..all in 10 mins

Out and about this afternoon, as it was glorious sunshine albeit a bit cold, but decided to get out with my Camera and see what we could see....but the weather proved to be more interesting. I love the shapes the sky takes on with the changes of weather and the beautiful colours, and to end it all as we arrive home a beautiful rainbow over our house..
