Our day in La Rochelle.

La Rochelle is a City in western France and a seaport on the Bay of Biscay, a part of the Atlantic ocean. It is the capital of the Charente-Maritime department.
La Rochelle was founded during the 10th century and became an important harbour in the 12th century.  La Rochelle's main feature is the "Vieux Port" (Old Harbour), which is at the heart of the city, picturesque and lined with seafood restaurants. The city walls are open to an evening promenade. The old town has been very well preserved.

La Rochelle has a very big Aquarium, and a small botanical garden (the Jardin des plantes de la La Rochelle)

We decided to visit La Rochelle for the day with family. the sun was shining and a beautiful blue sky. We had a beautiful walk along the old Town, and had a lovely meal in one of the Fish restaurants. It was nice to see people sat out side watching the world go by with their small espresso coffees...

  2. Such a gorgeous set of photos. We went to Il de Re in 1998, but I don't remember La Rochelle, I don't think we can have stopped there, which is a shame- it looks so beautiful. It featured in The Three Musketeers too, such history.
