Bonne année et bonne santé
We have just had a fabulous New Year , celebrations starting off with hubby cooking our New Years Eve Dinner. We celebrated with our lovely friends from the South Of France. Champagne/Gin & Tonic Apero with smoked salmon canapés, then for starter we had Garlic Mushrooms, followed by Scallops on a cauliflower puree with crispy bacon, then a delightful refreshing Pear sorbet, Main course, Filet Steak with Dauphinoise potatoes and French green beans, then a choice of assorted cheeses with grapes followed by a really delicious raspberry panna cotta, with raspberry coulis, all washed down with some very tasty wine ..........then coffee and Petit fours....and then it was time to open another bottle of Champagne to bring in the New Year. A fun game of Charades was played for while, followed by some brilliant singing by the "Sugar Lumps"...realising it was now 4am...we decided it was time for bed... zzzzzzzzzzzz
New Years Day...
Early (ish) rise 9:30, we didn't feel too bad, maybe just a tad tired, but nothing a good walk in the countryside didn't cure. It was lovely having this refreshing walk and having a good chat with our friends. Lazy lunch of Goats cheese parcels with Salad...then it was time to get ready to go to our lovely friends Pam & Mike for a New Years Day party... Aperos on arrival Kir Royale. After being introduced to some new friends we all settled down approx 40 of us, to chats and more drinks. Buffet was served...wow what an amazing spread, Lobster, Gambas, prawns, Joints of Pork, Lamb, casseroles, Lasagnes, Chicken, spicy potatoes and a lovely bowl of Salad. Desserts, were amazing too.. more Red wine and the evening turned into laughter, we did share some funny jokes and mishaps, and sharing my experience of seeing the Ladies of the night in La Jonquera.... another story another time.. :-)
Time to go home...all shattered, but have had great New Year celebrations.. Here's to 2013.....
