Burns Night Supper...

Robbie Burn's Night

We had a superb Burn's Night Supper at a friends house last night . A group of good friends all met together to celebrate the birth of Robbie Burns. The Supper was absolutely delicious, accompanied with excellent wine, and the ambience, fun and laughter between us all, made the evening more special. The traditional Haggis, tatties & neeps, were exceptionally delicious...washed down with a wee dram of Whisky..

Robbie Burns was a Scottish Poet & Lyricist, he was regarded as the national poet of Scotland,  Robbie Burns also collected folk songs from across Scotland, ofter revising or adapting them chiefly in the Scottish dialect.  His poem (and song) "Auld Lang Syne" is often sung at Hogmanay (the last day of the year).

Address to a Haggis

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o the puddin'-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye worthy o' a grace

The groaning trencher there ye fill,
Your hurdies like a distant hill,
Your pin wad help to mend a mill

Shopping in Angoulême/Champniers.....SOLDES... :-)

Prior to shopping, we thought it would be good to have some lunch first...would hate to get fatigued, and have to shorten my rummage through the sales :-)

 We dined in an lovely Chinese Restaurant, Soliel de Chine,( Angoulême, nr Champniers) we have been a few times before,  they have made some changes since we last went, great improvement.  They have a great WOK area, you just pick the meat or fish you want, and they WOK it while you wait...looked really good.










After lunch we decided to venture out to the sales, not clothes sales :-( but electrical goods... some amazing kitchen gadgetry..in some lovely colours. The cookers were out of this world, looks and price wise, but I do believe you get what you pay for. We didn't make any purchases , but have been given some great ideas.













Another superb shop we went into was Cultura just outside Angoulême, nr Champniers. A little treasure trove, has absolutely everything CRAFT.. Arts, paints, ribbons, threads, Tapestries, cake making, Books, DVD's CD's....excellent place.

New Year's Eve at Golf de Saint-Junien..

Fabulous New Year's Eve celebration at Golf de Saint-Junien, the venue is a Golf club and Hotel. It is open to the public for a round of Golf should you wish, or pop along and have a delicious lunch in their restaurant.

Golf de Saint-Junien is in the commune of Saint-Junien, in the Haute Vienne department of the Limousin region.


The theme was Gatsby...very roaring 20's style. It's was lovely to see the room dressed to match the occasion, and the guests dressing accordingly. A sure sign that it was going to be a good night. ...

It was lovely to see everyone (mainly French) up dancing, and did so in between courses...the food was "vraiment délicieux" the quality of the food was outstanding. Full compliments to the Chef, he and his staff did an amazing job. Compliments also go to the staff who provided a superb evening.

My photos are not the best, and really don't do the food justice, but they will give you an insight of the amazing night we had..
